About our CSA

"CSA" stands for Community Supported Agriculture. If you're brand new to the concept of CSA, click here for a quick overview.

Our CSA share is a weekly box of certified organic produce picked at our farm and delivered to your home (bi-weekly in Winter). It consists of a wide variety of veggie staples.  While we are known for our luscious lettuce, super-sweet spinach, and of course our legendary tomatoes, everything we grow is of the highest quality.

A few unique things about our CSA:

Home delivery
Our convenient home delivery saves you time, ensures that you get your vegetables in tip-top shape, and requires fewer vehicles on the road, as one car doing 20 deliveries takes fewer resources than 20 vehicles driving to and from a central pick-up site. We will unload the produce into your cooler, which keeps everything fresh and safe from critters. There's no need to be home for the delivery; we deliver to all sorts of residences--houses, doorman buildings, apartment buildings with locked gates and vestibules--and we can sort out delivery details with you before we set out.

Lots of payment options
We have two basic member types: Sustaining and Season-to-Season. Our sustaining members sign up to make regular monthly or semiannual (every 6 months) payments, then receive boxes during each of our 42 delivery weeks. Members signing up on a season-to-season basis join us for 12-week seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall), or our 6-week Winter season, then can renew as the seasons pass by. We recognize that a CSA can be a significant investment.  Upon checkout, you'll be able to pay using a credit or debit card -- or if you'd prefer to pay by  hard copy check(s), just call Sean (608-335-1198) or email us at info@tomatomountain.com.  In recognition of the investment you're making, we offer discounts for folks making twice-a-year or once-a-year upfront payments.

Four different share sizes
We offer four share sizes, so you can find the perfect size to match your household's needs. You can also select different sizes for each season if you sign up on a seasonal basis. If you find that you're receiving too much or too little, just let us know and we'll adjust for future deliveries.

Year-round availability
Our CSA year contains four seasons, just like the regular year--Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. You can choose any or all of them, or join as a sustaining member for the full year. You get the best of every season, including frost-sweetened spinach in the dead of Winter. That means that you can keep eating the best each season has to offer, even outside of typical growing months.

Helpful weekly newsletters and an expanded website
Curious about kohlrabi? Edgy about eggplant? Not to worry! Our weekly newsletters will offer tips to help you make the most of your seasonal produce. It will include news from farm, a list of what's in the box, cooking tips, recipes, and storage suggestions. In addition, each Friday, we'll send out a Sneak Peek of what we expect to put in your box the following week, allowing you to plan your weekend shopping. Our website is a wonderful resource for how to use your produce; check out our Recipe Index, Preparation Tips, and the links to each item on our Crop Calendar. You can also visit our Archives to see recent newsletters.

A la carte purchasing opportunities
Through this website, you'll be able to order additional items for delivery with your CSA box.  This will include extra produce from our farm (as available), and our kitchen products (salsas, preserves, soups, and more) by the jar, case, or more.  We'll also offer as available a few select items from other IL and WI farms, including raw honey, organic maple syrup and sunflower oil, organic eggs, and an ever-evolving selection of other options.  You'll receive a password when you sign up online; be sure to note that for future reference.

Serious flexibility and customer service
You can join anytime as a sustaining member, or jump into the current season already in progress on a pro-rated basis. We allow you to change your share size anytime you'd like. If you are on vacation, we will donate your share to Rice Home childrens' shelter in Evanston. And if you ever need to cancel your share for any reason, we'll refund the remainder of your investment, so you only pay for the weeks that you received produce. You can email info@tomatomountain.com or call Sean at 608-335-1198 any time to discuss any concerns you may have. Developing a direct connection with you and meeting your needs as best we can is what we do.
