Sneak Peek ~ Week 8

As we enter into the first week of June, the we are starting to see some changes on the farm as spring gives way to summer. Our garlic is sending up scapes

the carrots planted way back in March are finally close to harvestable, and perhaps most exciting for us at Tomato Mountain, the first two batches of tomatoes are in the ground and starting to produce fruit. Tomatoes are still a ways away but we are seeing the very first strawberries this week.

The jury's still out on how big and how sweet the berries will be, but we hope to get some to you this week, and we'll let you be the judge. The question mark reflects that we're not sure if they'll be ready for Monday or Tuesday, but we'll do our best.

As Chris alluded to in the last newsletter, June is a very busy month for us, and this year will be much busier than normal. With the storms that have come through (heavy wind last week, heavy rain this week) we are a few days behind on our

last big planting push of peppers, eggplant and tomatoes. As you may or may not know, everything on the farm is planted, weeded, and harvested by hand. This gentle handling goes a long way to bring you high quality produce with a long storage life.
