Crops & Varieties: Leeks

Leeks fresh from the box

Leeks
Mild and subtle, a favorite choice from the allium family.

Quick tips
Wash very carefully as sand finds it way into the layers as it grows.

Use thinly sliced leek rounds in salads or on sandwiches.

Use as you would use onions for a slightly different approach to numerous dishes.

Roast leeks and puree for a great soup base.

Storage
Wrap in a damp paper towel and store in open (unsealed) plastic bag in your refrigerator’s produce drawer.
