Please read this before signing up for our 2013 CSA

With our new year-round CSA, the signup page is very long to accommodate

        ♦  4 share sizes
        ♦  2 delivery days (evenings)
        ♦  4 delivery zones
        ♦  2 or 3 egg share sizes for every season
        ♦  multi-season/full payment discounts, and
        ♦  new online payment and checkout procedures
. . . so we're using this page to provide the descriptions and other information in an effort to help you make your selections and make that page easier to navigate.  

As you go through the signup process, you might wish to keep this page on your screen for easy reference.

     ♦ ♦ ♦  Four Seasons 

Winter Season NEW!
Bi-weekly, 6 weeks ~ Jan 15 & 17 through Mar 26 & 28 

The backbone of the Winter Season will be our super-sweet fresh spinach and quart jars of our Whole Roasted Tomatoes, rounded out with roots like carrots, beets, and turnips, and frozen items like roasted butternut squash, strawberries and raspberries.  What else is unique about our new Winter Season?

      ♦   It will include 3 to 5 items per delivery (the other seasons range between 5 to 10 items per week).
      ♦   Because it is bi-weekly, no Solo share will be offered.
      ♦   We will deliver the Winter Season shares to delivery zones 1, 2, and 3; if you are in zone 4, please contact us before placing an order that includes the Winter Season. 
      ♦   We are delivering on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
      ♦   We'll offer egg shares for 1, 2, or 3 dozen eggs with each bi-weekly delivery (or you're still welcome to order eggs as needed along with other a la carte items through our online store).  

Spring Season
Weekly, 12 weeks ~ April 16 & 18 through Jul 2 & 4 (July 4th delivery will be adjusted to Wednesday)
Like last year's Early Season, this will be a greens-heavy session with spinach, lettuce, Asian greens, kale, and chard forming the backdrop for a progressive, seasonal array of sweet turnips, radishes, beets, carrots, and scallions, culminating with several weeks of strawberries in June. 

Summer Season
Weekly, 12 weeks ~ Jul 9 & 11 through Sep 24 & 26
This is the bounty of the summer season, with tomatoes taking center stage by late July surrounded by sweet and hot peppers, lettuce, onions, zucchini, kale, eggplant, broccoli, cabbage, garlic and more.  

Fall Season
Weekly, 12 weeks ~ Oct 1 & 3 through Dec 17 & 19
Brassicas (broccoli, cabbage) and roots (carrots, turnips, beets, radishes) join winter squash, lettuce, and a variety of greens to keep the good stuff coming through the end of the calendar year.  

    ♦ ♦ ♦  Share Sizes

We are offering the same four sizes as last season--and at the same price as last year.  Prices are shown here in weekly amounts; multiply by the number of weeks in a season to arrive at your season total.  The signup page will show only the total for the season.  Please note that the number of people suitable for a particular share size is merely a guideline; everyone's shopping, eating, and cooking habits are different.  Feel free to get the size you feel you'll need regardless of the numbers indicated.  As always, if you find that you're receiving too much or too little, contact us to make an adjustment at any point in a season.

       ♦  Solo Share ~ 1 or 2 people $14/week [not available for the Winter Season]

       ♦  Small Share ~ 1 to 3 people $20/week

       ♦  Medium Share ~ 3 to 5 people $30/week

       ♦  Large Share ~ 4 to 6 people (or sharing households) $45/week 


    ♦ ♦ ♦  Delivery Days

We anticipate our delivery days for the 2013 season will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Click the link for the boundaries for each of the delivery days.  Deliveries are in the evening, generally between 5pm and 10pm.


    ♦ ♦ ♦  Home Delivery Zones & Rates

Our delivery rates have not changed from 2012, except that the 6 weeks of delivery in the Winter Season will be one-half the amount of a 12-week season.  Note, however, that we have tightened up our Zone 4 delivery range, based on our experience that we must have outer boundaries in order to create the most efficient delivery routes.           

     ♦ ♦ ♦  Egg Shares

We're proud to offer certified organic brown eggs from New Century Farm, Shullsburg, WI, a family farm operated by Mary & Dean Dickel and their two children, Megan & Ben. By focusing solely on eggs, they have built a medium-scale farm business that serves many fine restaurants and several cooperatives in Wisconsin on a year-long basis. Their chickens are never caged and are not given antibiotics; they are fed a ration of organic grains that Dean roasts and mixes himself.

Eggs can be purchased either as an a la carte item on an as-needed basis or as an Egg Share. For our 12-week seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall) we offer a single Egg Share (one dozen per delivery) or a DOUBLE Egg Share (two dozen per delivery).  During the Winter Season, we'll also offer a TRIPLE Egg Share (three dozen per bi-weekly delivery).  The Egg Shares are ordered via the CSA signup process; if you prefer to buy eggs on an as-needed basis, just visit our online store.

PLEASE NOTE: Eggs should be refrigerated; please plan to have a cooler with an ice pack available to receive your eggs if you are not able to receive them directly from your driver.


    ♦ ♦ ♦  Discounts 

We offer discounts for those signing up for multiple seasons (need not be consecutive) and paying in full at time of signup. While we appreciate all of our customers, and make installment payments available to bring our CSA within reach of all budgets, we offer the following discounts to those who are able to invest in the farm over an extended period:

      ♦   4% for any 2 seasons, paid in full one week prior to the beginning of your first season
      ♦   6% for any 3 seasons, paid in full one week prior to the beginning of your first season
      ♦  10% for 4 seasons, paid in full one week prior to the beginning of the Winter Season

PLEASE NOTE: The multi-season/full payment discounts will apply only for 2013 and only to the CSA share, not to delivery fees or egg shares.


     ♦ ♦ ♦  Checkout Procedures

Your method of checkout will depend on whether or not you are receiving a multi-season/full payment discount.

       ♦  Without the discount:  Please select the Pay Now Online payment option, which will permit you to pay by credit or debit card, and will offer Scheduled Payments to spread your payment over a few months.  If you prefer to pay by check, please select the Pay Later option and contact Robin (contact info below)

       ♦  With the discount:  At checkout, your purchase will be totaled without application of the discounts; select the Pay Later Online option on the bottom right. You will not be prompted for immediate payment.  Rather, we will internally adjust your account to apply the multi-season discount and we'll send you a Membership Details email which will contain a link for payment.  This link will remain active for only 48 hours and will offer you the options to pay using credit or debit card. Please select the Full Payment option!  We will make every effort to generate this payment link shortly after your online signup; rest assured that your discount will not be jeopardized for payment links sent after the applicable deadline, provided that you make your payment in full before the payment link expires. If you prefer to pay by check, please contact Robin (contact info below).

NOTE: We have discontinued use of the e-Check option.
